Traffic Alert/ Updates ANTICIPATED WORK FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 6, 2010 Please note: There will not be work on most of these projects on Monday, September 6 due to the Labor Day holiday Burlington Road construction will reduce traffic to one lane at times or allow local traffic only on the following Burlington streets: South Prospect from Maple to Ledge Drive – Tuesday, September 7, George Street, Peru Street, Loomis Street from North Prospect to North Willard, School Street, Weston Street Road construction on Colchester Avenue from Prospect Street to Nash Street will run from September 7 through October 15. Traffic delays are expected. On Tuesday and Wednesday, there will be road construction on South Winooski Avenue to the intersection of King Street. On Thursday and Friday weather permitting, there will be paving on Shelburne Street from the intersection of Locust Street proceeding north onto South Winooski Avenue to King Street. Traffic flow will be maintained at all times with traffic control present. Motorists should use extreme caution while traveling through the work zone and observe speed limits. This project should be completed by the end of October. Colchester Work on Holy Cross Road will continue until mid-October. Traffic control will be present when required. Paving will reduce traffic to one lane at times on the following streets: Clay Point Road – September 7, Porters Point Road from the Colchester Point Road intersection to Pine Meadows – September 8, River Road – September 8, Middle Road – September 9, Severance Road from the Mill Pond Road intersection to the Essex Town Line – September 9. Essex Junction Work on Pearl Street between the main gate of the fairgrounds and the intersection with the Post Office will last through November 1. Most of the work will be between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. with occasional night work possible. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times with traffic control present, but motorists may experience short traffic delays. South Summit Street is CLOSED from Pearl Street to Cherry Street from 7:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. for road construction. Traffic will be detoured, and traffic control will be present. To accommodate school traffic, South Summit Street will be open from 7:45 a.m. until 8:15 a.m., and then from 2:45 p.m. until 3:15 p.m. This project is expected to be completed by October 5. Interstate 89 between Exits 10 and 16 There will be lane and shoulder closures at various places between Exits 10 and 16 northbound and southbound through October 30. Interstate 89 Exit 14W Drivers should be aware of construction activity near the Exit 14W northbound ramp and lane closures on the Exit 14W southbound ramp. Interstate 89 Exit 15 southbound On Tuesday, September 7 beginning at 7:30 p.m., the right lane will be closed north of the Exit 15 on ramp to allow for line striping. On Wednesday beginning at 7:30 p.m., concrete barriers will be installed to allow for work to begin to paint the bridge over the Winooski River and shorten the on ramp. This project will continue through the end of October. Southbound traffic should stay in the left lane and the speed limit is reduced to 50 miles per hour. Interstate 89 Exit 15 northbound Work to improve the Exit 15 northbound ramp on Interstate 89 in Winooski may cause traffic delays. Jericho Sidewalk construction on Route 15 from Lawrence Heights to Griswold Street will cause periodic lane closures through September. Milton Traffic on the West Milton Road near the Lamoille River will be reduced to one lane due to road construction. Traffic control will be present, and this project will continue through October 1. Richmond Work under the deck of the Interstate 89 Bridge over Route 2 will reduce the overhead clearance on Route 2 to 14 feet and 6 inches. Motorists should also be aware of workers at the sides of the road. This project should be completed by mid-September. Work painting the Interstate 89 Bridge over Jericho Road near the Elementary School will reduce traffic on Jericho Road in that area to one lane for the next week. Utility companies working in the area of the Checker House Bridge on Route 2 and on the north side of Route 2 from French Hill to the Winooski River Bridge may reduce traffic to one lane at times for the next several months. South Burlington No parking is allowed on Airport Drive in front of the airport until October 8 to accommodate the delivery of large construction materials. Motorists should be aware of construction vehicles entering and leaving the main entrance to the Holiday Inn on the Williston Road during the day. Road construction on San Remo Drive will reduce traffic to one lane at times. Underhill Pleasant Valley Road is open for two lane traffic but the travel will be rough until the road is repaved in October. Motorists should be aware of construction and utility vehicles and people working along the side of the road in the work zone. Westford Motorists on Route 128 should be aware of workers performing ditch and guardrail work Tuesday through Friday. This project is expected to be completed by September 12. Williston Culvert repair on South Road near the entry from Oak Hill Road may cause minimal traffic delays. Motorists should be aware of construction vehicles in this area. Winooski On Tuesday, September 7 after 9:00 a.m., Route 15 travel will be reduced to one lane eastbound near the Exit 15 on and off ramps to allow for utility work. County-wide Motorists should be alert for bridge washing and mowing along all county roads. Minor traffic delays should be expected. |
