Chittenden County Traffic Alert - Week of September 21, 2020

NOTE:  Road work can be weather dependent, and dates of work may shift accordingly.

Burlington

Sidewalk work on Colchester Avenue from South Prospect Street to East Avenue will close shoulders on the south side to cyclists. The west- and east-bound bike lanes will be closed intermittently to allow construction vehicle access. Two-way traffic will be maintained most of the time. This work will continue through September.

Colchester

On Monday through Wednesday, motorists should be aware of a sidewalk project on VT Route 2A between Mill Pond Road and the Colchester Fire Department Building. Most work will be off the travel portion of the roadway.

Essex

Construction on Pinecrest Drive between VT Route 2A (Colchester Road) and Suffolk Lane will reduce traffic to one lane during daytime hours. Traffic control will be present, and motorists can expect minor delays through October.

Essex Junction

On Monday, September 21, from 8am to 4:30pm, there will be a lane closure on Maple Street between Railroad Street and the Five Corners to allow work on the waterline. Two-way traffic will be maintained with traffic control present. Minor delays can be expected.

Hinesburg

Work on Route 116 north of the intersection with Shelburne Falls and CVU Road will cause lane shifts and alternating one-way traffic on roads around the intersection. Traffic control will be present and motorists should expect delays between 9am and 3pm during the week. Interstate 89 between Exit 11 and just north of Exit 16
Sunday through Thursday from 7pm to 6am there will be work on bridge joints and guardrails as well as shoulder cleanup work throughout the project limits. Traffic will be reduced to one lane with traffic control present. For more information visit https://vtrans.vermont.gov/projects/i89-resurfacing

Milton

Road construction on Poor Farm Road will reduce travel to one lane through the end of October. Poor Farm Road will be closed from 215 Poor Farm Road to 236 Poor Farm Road through September 23. An alternative route of Quail Hollow to Red Clover Way to Cardinal Drive will be open.

Richmond
Dugway Road is closed near the Huntington Gorge due to a washout last fall. The road will be closed until at least the fall, and possibly into the spring of 2021.

Underhill
Work this week on VT Route 15 from N. Underhill Station Road to Cambridge will include paving, shoulder and installation of rumble strips throughout the project limits. Minor delays are expected. The work will be done on Saturday from 6:30am to 6pm, and Monday through Friday between 6:30am and 6pm.

Countywide
Motorists should be alert for intersection mowing, pothole patching and general maintenance work on the interstate and state and local roads. Please slow down in work zones.

Drivers are asked to please use caution. The CCRPC would like to remind all motorists in highway work zones to:

  • Reduce speed;
  • Obey all workers holding signs;
  • Watch out for people and machines; and
  • Give ‘em a brake… when you encounter a work zone.
