(Winooski, Vermont) – Thursday, December 7, 2023 – This is a seasonal update about the Bird bikeshare. As the winter season approaches, bringing with it challenging weather conditions, the City of Burlington, South Burlington and Winooski, in collaboration with Bird and the Chittenden Area Transportation Management Associate (aka CATMA), are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all its residents and visitors. With this in mind, we wish to inform you of an important seasonal adjustment to our shared micro-mobility services.

Temporary Hibernation of Bird Vehicles 

Effective Period: Starting mid-December, Bird will temporarily pause its bike-sharing services in the greater Burlington area.  

Duration: The hibernation period will extend through the winter months, with services planned to resume in the spring, weather permitting.

CATMA, Bird and the cities of Burlington, South Burlington and Winooski are dedicated to providing efficient, eco-friendly transportation options. We thank you for your understanding and support during this seasonal pause. We are excited to welcome back Bird’s services in the spring, enhancing our city’s vibrant and dynamic character.
